Haydn’s Symphony No. 45 – “Farewell” in F-sharp Minor” as we bid farewell to 2013

If hope springs, eternal, let the past be dispatched on an elegant note.  Haydn’s intent, in this arrangement had one unique element in that he provide a musical suggestion to his patron that perhaps it was time to conclude their prolonged visit, that the musicians wanted to return home, to their families and community.

In five movements, I’ll try to arrange them in this list from beginning to end:

Allegro Assai

Presto, Adagio

Finale:Allegro, Ma Non Troppo
